12-24-06 Christmas Eve Day. Hey look Santa came 1 day too early and left us a present. Our 2nd sizable storm. A little over a foot up on the mountain. Sheila and Julie took the day off in preparation of the Bill Kidd Performance Center classes we had starting tomorrow- Christmas Day.

12-24-06 Going up the Storm Peak Chair it was looking pretty good, but windy.

Things were blowing at the top of Mount Werner. Here's the Storm Peak Laboratory. Time to head for the trees.

12-24-06 Windy or not, it's nice and quiet in the trees. Steamboat is famous for it's trees.  Beginner or expert, you can find some that have adequate  room to ski them.

12-24-06 Down towards the bottom of the hill the groomers were good. No wind made for good skiing.

Christmas Day 12-25-06

Please may everyone have a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year !!!!

12-25-06 Christmas Day. Julie gets her Steamboat Ski Instructor jacket and heads up to the Billy Kidd Performance Center to see if she has her first client. The Center offers aggressive training for advanced skiers using modern technique on shaped skiis. Extensive video in the gates, bumps and groomed runs is used for training. You will come home tired. The program is 3 days. The instructors have had years of training and are world class skiers. Julie has been in the Steamboat program since she was 3.

12-25-06  Billy Kidd is director of skiing at Steamboat. He comes out almost everyday to help with some instruction in the camps. He is a great skier who works hard to promote skiing at Steamboat. They have produced more Olympic skiers than any other ski area in the United States. No wonder Billy and the coaches take ski instruction seriously. This program is not a guided tour. If you're not in shape, you won't make every day. Here Billy is giving pointers on hand placemant.

12-25-06 Julie with her first student, Bryce.  On the right is a proud Mom.

12-26-06 We celebrate the next evening cooking our own meat at the 8th Street Steak House in the Town of Steamboat. Pick and cook your own. Sheila cooked the toast this time so there were no fires. Julie had a little problem the previous year and the toast was flaming.

12-26-06 Kids booster seats Steamboat style...

12-27-06 Julie and Bryce on their last day. Bryce is a great skier who can carve almost anywhere, including the gates. He definitely advanced his technique. His parents were very happy with Julie and gave her a whopping big tip. She got paid for skiing. Good job Julie. Bryce is already psyched for next year. Very often students get the same instructor, if at all possible.
